Learn How To Save On Fort Worth Auto Insurance

by andre1 on September 13, 2009

Fred Gagnon

There are so many risks and liabilities associated with driving and owning a car. This is why car owners are required by law to have auto insurance.

What is an auto insurance?

Auto insurance, also known as car insurance, motor insurance and vehicle insurance, is an agreement between an insured person or group and an insurance company. It is a type of insurance purchased for vehicles like cars and trucks. The primary purpose of an auto insurance is to provide protection against losses incurred as a result of traffic accidents and against liability that could be incurred in an accident.

How does an auto insurance works?

An auto insurance is a contract between an insured person or group and the insurance company. The insured person or group pays premiums, which is the amount of money charged for insurance coverage, to the insurance company. In return, the insurance company promises to pay compensation in the event of an accident or loss as define in the policy.

The insurance company issues the insured person or group a proof of insurance, which will be presented if the insured person or group gets involved in an accident or is stopped by law enforcement officials while driving. The proof of insurance serves as evidence that the vehicle is insured for a particular period of time.

There are several types of auto insurance. Sports cars and expensive cars have higher premiums.

Insurance policies are very specific about the insurance coverage. Usually, auto insurance provides property coverage, liability coverage and medical coverage. Property coverage pays for damage to or theft of the insured vehicle. Liability coverage pays for the legal responsibility of the owner of the vehicle to others for bodily injury or property damage. Medical coverage pays for the cost of treating injuries and rehabilitation. Medical coverage also pays for lost wages and funeral expenses.

In the United States, each and every one of the 50 states has different auto insurance law, coverage requirements and costs. For one, it can save you a significant amount of money on your auto insurance policy. It can also keep you legally protected in the event of an auto accident.

To help you make the right choice in auto insurance, here are important guidelines.

1. Shop for insurance before buying a vehicle.

The best way to save money on auto insurance is to get the best deal possible. Shopping for insurance is best done before purchasing a vehicle.

Many people tend to stay with the same company not realizing how much money they could have saved had they shopped for insurance first before settling in an insurance company. Before purchasing a vehicle, compare insurance quotes first, at least twice a year as rates are always changing.

Comparing multiple company quotes will increase your chances of finding lower rates as rates vary from company to company. You can get free quotes online from insurance companies and independent agents, which are people who represent several insurance companies.

2. Take advantage of discounts or premium reductions, or special insurance rates such as:

a. Low mileage discounts

Your premium is calculated based on the average distance you drive annually or how far you commute from to work or school.

b. Good student discounts

Students who are currently enrolled and have good grades receive a discount on auto insurance. Many insurance companies offer “Good Student” discounts for young drivers who maintain a “B” (or 3.0) or above “B” average.

c. Multi-car discounts

You can reduce your premium by insuring two or more vehicles in one policy.

d. Other policies

Other policies may include homeowner’s insurance policy or life insurance policy. Various insurance companies offer discounts if you have your home insured with the same company that insures your vehicle.

e. The Safe Vehicle Discount

Installing safety devices and anti-theft devices can earn you discounts. Many companies offer discounts for various safety devices, such as air bags and factory-installed mechanical seatbelts, as well as anti-theft devices installed on your vehicle, such as alarms and antilock brakes.

Once a driver has turned the age of 25, auto insurance premiums tend to be lowered.

g. The Good Driver Discount

Most insurance companies offer discounts for drivers who have completed a driver’s training course. Drivers who have not had accidents or received tickets in the last 3-5 years are also offered discounts. Avoiding traffic tickets and accidents can greatly increase your premiums. The insurance company could also cancel your insurance policy on your next renewal because of these.

h. Avoiding installment fees

Sometimes, you can save on the premium by paying 6 months of an auto insurance premium in advance instead of monthly.

i. Prior Insurance

Some insurance companies offer discounts to those who have been continuously insured for the last 6 months or more.

A good credit score can lower your rate as insurance companies usually adjust rates by judging your risk.

k. Car pooling

Some insurance companies offer carpooling, as well as public transportation, discounts. Logic says that the more you use car pooling and public transportation, the less you drive your vehicle.

3. Be knowledgeable about coverage

a. Avoid unnecessary coverage.

b. Consider higher deductibles when adding physical coverage to a vehicle. Deductibles are the amounts you pay out of the pocket before the insurance company pays for anything. The Higher the Deductible, the lower your premium.

c. Avoid duplicate coverage or unnecessary coverage. If you already have a health insurance policy, you might not need a medical coverage. If you have an older car or if your car is not worth much, avoid unnecessary coverage such as collision. Paying premium for repairs on a vehicle you would probably replace if it’s badly damaged is not a good idea.

What interest is provided by GPS vehicle tracking procedures? Here is a summary and examples of how you might use data provided by GPS tracking devices:

Location data: Latitude and lengthyitude provided in degrees, minutes and seconds. It is accurate to 33 feet, which is as accurate as any ad GPS device. A vehicles location is updated at intervals of trothtween 2 – 15 minutes. The standard update interval varies between manufacturers or can be set by the owner (optional).

  • Who is closest to the customer that just called? consult with where all your employees are by checking the map. Never again call an employee just to find out where they are!

velocity calculation: Rate of movement in miles per hour. Movement in excess of a preset speed (standard) or owner-set speed (optional) triggers an vigilant, sent to the owner.

  • Are employees routinely speeding? Speeding causes excessive wear and wastes gasoline. Your vehicles represent your agency to the public; what munificent of an image is presented by a speeding or recklessly-driven company vehicle?

Present direction: Compass direction the vehicle is traveling, expressed as north, south, east or west.

  • Is employee X en route to the customer or allowing for their location?

Geofence use: A virtual geographic boundary, created by the owner. Crossing this boundary triggers an alert which is sent to the owner. The alerts are usually e-mail messages or automated cell phone demands from the system to the user, including the vehicle identification, date/time of crossing, location of crossing and added, depending upon the system. A Geofence can be 1/4 mile to 20+ miles in diameter.

  • Is a delivery truck approaching the warehouse? Is the exit door open?

Alerts: An mechanization e-mail, sent to the owner, with the date, time, location, identification and other details related to some event which has occurred and deserves your attention. Alerts are triggered when a vehicle exceeds a preset speed or crosses a Geofence boundary, for example.

  • Email alerts can be sent to your Blackberry or movable device. You can monitor your company while out of the office or elsewhere from your desk.

Fastest speed report: A a day report of each vehicles fastest speed.

  • Why was employee Y driving 80 m.p.h.?

Historical data: A chronicle of all data related to each vehicle, maintained for 90 days.

  • Which vehicles averaged the most miles driven each day? Export vehicle data to an succeed Worksheet to compare productivity between employees.

Ignition on/off: Time, date and location of each instance where a vehicles ignition was rotated on or off.

  • When was Hooters eating place put on employee Zs route?

slothful report: Time, date, location and duration of each instance where a vehicle remained motionless while the engine was running. Owner can adjust the duration of idle allowed prior to a report is generated.

  • Idling the engine wastes motor oil and causes unnecessary wear. Employee Zs vehicle idled twice as long as employee Ys vehicle; perhaps employee Z should shut off his vehicles engine when making deliveries.

Accumulated mileage alert: An alert sent at 3,000 miles, 5,000 miles or at an owner-set interval (optional) as a reminder to perform preventative maintenance.

  • Email: time to have the oil changed on vehicle A.

Location on demand: The skill to observe and display location info when demand, apart from of when the last listed update occurred.

  • Where is employee Y? I need to find him right now!

Map detail: Vehicle location is displayed on a street map, which the owner can enlarge or reduce to see more or less map detail.

  • Employee A says Main Street is closed for construction, what is the subsequently street West?

Landmarks: Reference points which may or may not be visible on the map created to designate locations important to the system user. Landmarks could be customer locations, the users shop, warehouse, satellite offices, etc.

  • Who has been to the warehouse today?

Breadcrumbs: When requested by the owner, a trail of points can be displayed on the map, indicating a vehicles route all over a certain time period.

  • Do routes overlap between vehicle A and vehicle B?

Many GPS tracking system providers offer additional information, but, as I hope you can see, even this list of basic data will give you all the info you need to manage your vehicles.

How do I find the best car insurance rates?

by andre1 on September 14, 2009

There are a number of different ins shopping sites, but it is better to go with a good company with reasonable rates than the very cheapest. After an accident is not agood time to find out your ins company sucks. Try USAA (if you have any military in family) Amica, or Progressive. All are excellent. Good luck.
Best way to save is to get as high a collision deductible as your savings will allow.

Finding The Best Automobile Insurance Online

by andre1 on September 14, 2009

Automobile insurance is one of those necessary evils in life; many people don’t want car insurance because of the cost, but most people aren’t sure where they would be without it. In many countries having enough auto insurance to compensate others following an accident where you are at fault is compulsory and failure to carry the insurance can result in imprisonment.

Insurance is designed to protect against any loss that comes out as a result of an accident, giving some relief to those found liable for accidents facing expensive lawsuits and giving the victim with suitable compensation through the system. Because of this, most people end up being fairly relieved that they have automobile insurance at some point in their driving career.

Getting cheap car insurance online, even the most basic of packages, can wind up saving you an awful lot of strife on the road when you get into an accident. In fact, more people are choosing cheap car insurance online as their sole automobile insurance provider than ever before because of the ease in which it is accessible.

Car insurance online comes up with a valid quote for your insurance needs by calculating your vehicle type, your driving record, the roads you are most apt to drive on and the amount of time you will spend driving per month. From these variables, a car insurance provider can come up with a quote for their customers and can start to orchestrate a plan for delivering the best insurance possible.

Tesco, Britain’s leading automobile insurance provider, is one website that contains an awful lot of information that can help you come up with an online quote. Getting your car insurance through Tesco can be a brilliant way to go about insuring your car in the UK because of the alternatives to some of the basic plans, including ample special features and a ton of unique vehicle-specific variables that can be plugged into your overall plan.

Tesco car insurance has various no-frills style insurance packages that enable customers to mix-and-match some of their policy points in order to come up with a good policy that suits their needs.

Along with looking online for automobile insurance, there are other things you can do to get low car insurance rates to come your way. The top tip that most experts offer is to shop around. Look online, offline and everywhere in between for the best low Car Insurance Rates.

Another idea is to make sure that all of the vehicles you will be insuring are located on the same policy. This is a good idea because it enables you to save up to or around ten percent per car through “multi-vehicle” discounts. An idea along these lines that some companies also offer is the “multi-line” insurance, meaning that if you insure your home and your car with the same company, you will end up with a discount on both pieces.

There are many opportunities to save money on your automobile insurance if you look in the right places. You can choose a higher deductible, for example, and save a good amount of money on your car insurance through that route. You can also drop collision altogether if you have an older car, enabling you to cut some fiscal corners and bring down your overall rate. The best option for saving money on your automobile insurance is, however, to not end up using it by driving safely.

Good Student Discount Auto Insurance?

by andre1 on September 14, 2009

I have a 3.6 GPA. My grade is A average, but one of my quarter grade was a C, but the final semester came out as a B. Well, anyways, do we just send them the report card that we got or do we have to get the sealed one from school? Thanks! Thanks again!

I usually send them the transcript from school. It can be unofficial too. You can always get a student discount, specially with your gpa, so don’t worry about that C, they only look at your overall performance.

I received a DUI in California – now I’m required to get a SR22 in order to get my drivers license back. "Why not get a scooter and get that insured for cheap?" Is my idea…. is it possible???????

Thanks

yes you can get SR22 Insurance on a scooter, it is possible to get it and yes it is cheaper. If you already have a car you may want to compare the prices though, because getting cheaper insurance may not be balance out paying for a scooter.

My 17 year old is taking lessons but we’ve discovered that the cost of adding him to our car insurance is prohibitive. I’d really like him to be able to drive our car as my husband is disabled and I also look after my 80 year old mother so having somebody else in the family with a licence will be a real boon, but the current quotes for adding him to my insurance seem to be pushing the cost up from £260 per year to £250 per month!

Go to swiftcover.com it’s the cheapest place by far that I found.
